Tension is in the Air: And we Can Feel It!

This essay was originally published in my November 2024 newsletter.

Do you Feel it All?

Tension is in the air. Throughout the world! The stressful energy is palpable. Between the election results in the United States, the wars being fought around the globe, people’s rights being taken away or challenged, and a sense that the world has turned upside down with all the conspiracy theories circling in the mainstream. It’s all disrupting our energetic equilibrium.

Do you feel it?

The earth is feeling the stress too with the impact of climate change.

Something needs to shift. And at times that feels overwhelming to me too. It feels too big for just one person to make a difference. So, I get stuck in the bigness of it all.

But each one of us does make a difference. That’s what I need to remember. I am one but we are more.

And if we can feel more aligned within, it can help others feel that way too.

I noticed that I’ve felt frenetic, and it’s been hard to fall asleep at night because I’m buzzing with that energy. And my digestive system is a bit out of whack.

We’re carrying the collective stress even if we’re not conscious of it. And while we might not be able to change or stop the world’s problems, we can take steps to manage our stress, and I believe that ripples outward.

Here are a few ways that help me reground my energy:

Meditation- while I don’t meditate every day, I try to be mindful when I’m feeling overwhelmed. And if I can meditate most days it helps me regain that more stable energy in times of stress. I just joined an in person meditation group and love the collective energy there.

Walking- I don’t get the chance to take long walks every day, but I’m almost always out with Elvis, my 14-year-old dachshund a few times a day. He’s an old man so the walks are slow and steady. Walking with him helps me check my impatience and appreciate nature right outside my door.

Body work- Reiki, yoga, movement or dance therapy, craniosacral therapy, dancing. I find bringing my body into my healing practices helps my internal and external experiences align. I’ve been experiencing and studying Reiki, and it’s opened up new ways of healing myself and others.

Therapy and/or Coaching- I’m in weekly therapy, and work with an energetic coach regularly to heal the past trauma, and new experiences that trigger it. Working on my stuff helps me be a better human, helps me know myself, and helps me be a better therapist and coach.

I think our collective feminine energy is really needed in the world to counterbalance the toxic masculine energy that’s been brewing and boiling over. And we must take care of our self for it to ripple outward.

I’d love to know your tools for healing and grounding your energy. Let me know and I’ll include it in the next newsletter!
