Show Notes:

Have you ever been in a new situation and heard an unfamiliar voice bubble up from inside—a part of you that you don’t recognize? Getting to know those parts—all your parts—can lead you to a place where you can be your authentic self. In this week’s episode of the Awaken Your Wise Woman podcast, host Elizabeth Cush, LCPC, a licensed professional therapist, founder of Progression Counseling in Annapolis, Md., and a women’s life coach, talks about her experience at a recent Internal Family Systems training and the insights she gained as a result. She talks about some of the many benefits she has experienced from doing “parts” work with her own therapist and leads listeners on a guided meditation designed to help you learn to recognize when your parts might be trying to tell you something.

Listen and learn:

  • How parts can surprise us by showing up suddenly and unexpectedly

  • What it might be like to recognize a new part

  • Why our parts aren’t always logical

  • What happens when we treat our partners with curiosity, kindness, creativity and compassion

  • Why we can’t be in Self energy all the time

  • How polarized parts can affect us—and what to do about it

  • How we can gain a more balanced relationship with ourselves

  • How to tune in and listen to our different parts and what they might be trying to say

  • What can happen when we focus our attention on sensations of tension, numbness or discomfort
